Diploma work formatting

The diploma project is the final independent research work of the student. It aims to show the student's ability to integrate knowledge gained in different courses, as well as the ability to analyze information, collect empirical data and draw conclusions.

12 general requirements
There are the following requirements for the design of the thesis:

1. Duplex printing is not allowed, that is, text can only be on one side of the sheet.

2.The distance between the lines is 1.5 cm.

3.Font Times New Roman 14 point, straight, no selection. Bold is allowed for headings.

4.The text needs to be justified.

5.The indentation is 1.5 cm.

6.Observe the fields:
top and bottom - 20 mm,
left - 30 mm (for stitching),
right - 10 mm.

7.When numbering pages, Arabic numerals are used; they should be centered in the header.

8.Continuous numbering. The counting is from the title page, but the numbers are put from the 3rd page, that is, from the introduction.

9.Don't confuse hyphen and dash. A hyphen is a small dash without spaces, a dash is a long dash with spaces. A dash can be typed with the Ctrl + Alt + minus keys on the NoomLock keyboard or Alt + 0151.

10.The main quotes are “herringbones”, the inner quotes are “paws”.

11.The volume of the thesis is 60-90 pages, the following are considered: title page, table of contents, introduction, chapters and list of sources. Apps are not included in this list.

12.The finished work is handed over in hardcover.

Content design
Contents, or table of contents, is the second page of the work, which is a list of major sections and pages. It includes an introduction, titles of chapters, sections and subsections, conclusion, bibliography, applications. All items must correspond to the page number from which each of these items begins.

You can arrange content in two ways: manually and automatically. To arrange the table of contents manually, you need to press the "LINKS" button in the Word document, then select the "CONTENTS" item and select the "Manual table of contents" method. After that, you just need to fill in the lines.

To arrange the table of contents automatically, you need to click on the "LINKS" button in Word, select "CONTENTS", then you need to select the "Auto-Collected Table of Contents" item and then the program will collect all the headings into the document content.

To get your headlines right, pay attention to the following points.

Each heading should be capitalized and centered, without a period at the end.
Times New Roman, bold, straight, 16 or 14 point size.
A new chapter begins with a blank slate, and is numbered. Chapters can have sections and subsections and it will be formatted like this: chapter number - section number - subsection number. The numbers are separated by a dot, for example 1.3 or 4.1.1.
If the heading is too long, then the word that does not fit is wrapped to the next line completely, without a break.
The text is separated from the title by double space.

References and footnotes
When writing a thesis, the student turns to a variety of sources of information and uses citation of information that is important for research. When registering, one should be guided by the following rules:

the quote is enclosed in quotation marks, the grammatical form is preserved;
you can skip words or phrases if this does not distort the meaning. Gaps are indicated by ellipsis <…>;
the quote must have a link or footnote to the source.

Any illustration of your research, be it a drawing, graph, diagram or photograph, is numbered with Arabic numerals through a cross-cutting method. But you can also number them within the section, in this case it will look like this: "Scheme 2.1", where 2 is the chapter number, and 1 is the serial number of the image itself.

The graphic material should come immediately after the text that it explains.

Appendices are found at the end of all thesis. They are located in the same sequence as they are mentioned in the text. Each of them must begin with the word "APPENDIX" and a title.
Applications are not numbered with numbers, but are designated in capital letters, starting with "A" (excluding e, z, d, o, h, b, s, b), for example: APPENDIX B. Latin is allowed, except for I and O.
